If you now use over-the-counter and prescription allergy relief medicine, you know that although they ease your allergy symptoms, they can have uncomfortable side effects. They don’t address the underlying cause of your symptoms. That’s why you should talk to us about precision allergy testing and the new customized medications that could help you say goodbye to your allergies forever.

Desert Palm Family Health will test for the cause of your allergies, then treat them with custom medications which have been specifically designed to resolve your allergy itself. These medications are unique custom-formulated antigen therapies that help desensitize you to the pollens, molds and other triggers that cause your symptoms and make you uncomfortable. This desensitization therapy allows you to be around those allergens without allergic reactions and symptoms. With minimal continued maintenance usage, these medications can last a lifetime.

We know that every patient is different. Each of us responds differently to different allergens. That’s why we custom-formulate every single dosage of our allergy medications specifically for each individual patient.

Allergy Testing

How is the allergy test performed? Is it painful?

A skin test pinpoints your specific allergies. Skin testing is the oldest and most reliable form of allergy testing. Used for over 100 years, skin testing continues to be the “gold standard” for diagnosing allergic disease.

The testing is not painful. A tiny comb gently scratches or abrades the skin surface. After the test is performed, it takes about 15 minutes to develop. A positive result appears as a raised, red bump on the skin, similar to a mosquito bite.

How long does the allergy testing take?

The testing takes approximately 15-30 minutes to administer and 15 minutes to register the results. You don’t have to wait long to learn the cause of your allergies.

Who can be tested?

Adults and children over the age of 3 years can be tested for allergies. This is especially helpful for patients who suffer with asthma, allergic pneumonia, conjunctivitis (pink eye), undiagnosed cough, dermatitis (skin irritation), insect allergy, rhinitis, sinusitis, urticaria (hives) and angioedema (similar to hives, but beneath the skin).

Which allergens will be tested for?

You will be tested for the 50 most geographically specific mold and airborne allergens in our area. We test for products from dust mites, proteins from pet hair and dander, molds, trees, grass and weed pollens. The test does not detect food allergies.

I am currently taking antihistamines for my allergies. Will that affect the test?
In order to achieve the most accurate test results, you should discontinue any antihistamines, over-the-counter or prescription drugs for at least three days prior to allergy testing.

Allergy Treatment

Relief from allergies varies by individual, but the vast majority of patients see results within the first few months.

Is immunotherapy effective in eliminating allergies?

Yes, immunotherapy is very effective in greatly decreasing or even eliminating the symptoms of allergies. Up to 85% receive a complete cure or noticeable reduction in allergy symptoms.

Will testing and immunotherapy be covered by insurance?
